Kuchipudi has evolved over the years to the dance form it is today. Its essence and the boundaries of Kuchipudi keep growing to unravel various aspects of the art form that remains unexplored.

About the Speakers

Kasi Aysola is a dance artist making his mark in the United States. Kasi is a dancer, choreographer, and nattuvangam artist who trained in Kuchipudi under late Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar and continues with Yamini Saripalli. He did his foundational dance training in BharataNatyam under Guru Viji Prakash in BharataNatyam and Mythili Prakash. He is the Co-founder & Artistic Director of Prakriti Dance, an innovative dance company that creates sensitive work reflecting today’s world and the human experience. Kasi is pursuing Indian performing traditions with the intention to inspire new generations of dancers to delve into the enriching world of Indian performing arts. For him, dance is a lifelong journey of exploration and discovery.

Pranamya Suri is known for her eloquent grace and uncompromising precision. Her delightful style is the result of a perpetual love for the ancient art form. She is the student of her mother, guru Smt. Srilatha Suri, who is the director of Natyanjali Kuchipudi Dance School, one of the most prominent Kuchipudi training centers in the United Stated. Pranamya underwent advanced training under Padma Shree Dr. Sobha Naidu and Sri Jai Kishore Mosalikanti, both stalwarts of the art. She has performed at some of the most renowned platforms and has been awarded several prestigious titles.

Pranamya is also a doctor and completed a surgical year at Harbor-UCLA. With an interest to connect medicine with dance, she is currently pursuing her medical residency in PM&R at the University of California, Irvine. She was also founder and president of Echoes of India, a non-profit organization. She combined her love for dance and service by raising funds through dance.

Avijit Das a spirited dancer who believes in Indian classical dance as not only a medium of showcasing the rich tradition but also a naturalistic channel of expression that is innate to all cultures. With an immense conviction in the modern interpretations of classical dance, he challenges his audience to rejuvenate their sense of aesthetics. Like a glimpse in the mirror, Avijit’s fire brand style of work both when performing as well as teaching, aim to encourage self-identity in the viewers or students. Avijit is also an excellent team player who shares his passion for perfection and constantly strives to incorporate new ideas to create exciting choreography. He is eager to collaborate and any artist can easily partake the wealth of his exquisite art history. Avijit Das is grade artist from Chennai Dooradarshan. Avijit has been reviewed by several National and international newspapers such as Newyork times, Brodway times, The Hindu, Times of India.

For their contribution to the art form they have been decorated with many awards nationally and internationally. They have had the honor of performing for presidents and prime ministers of many countries such as President Ford, Bill Clinton, Fidel Castro etc. They have conducted charity shows for Red Cross Society, Blind Relief Association, and the home for the aged people in Bombay and CRY. They had the honor of being invited as the first Indian dancers to participate in the International Dance festival of Avignon in France and Salzburg in Austria.

The couple’s contribution to the festival of India in the USA and the UK was considered outstanding. They were the star attraction of the All Star Ballet Gala festival in Japan. The Reddys inaugurated the India Festival in Bangladesh. Raja and Radha Reddy have created history by becoming the first couple to receive Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan award individually and simultaneously for the same cause by the President of India, the Sangeet Natak Academy award, International Meridian award etc.
