Dance is the poetry of movement, and making a mark with many such lyrical verses is danseuse Yamini Reddy. Born to the legendary Kuchipudi exponents, Padma Bhushan awardees Dr. Raja and Radha Reddy, Yamini has got dance in inheritance from her parents. Endowed with a sculpted figure, an expressive face and scintillating grace, Yamini has a very captivating stage presence with the right aptitude for rhythm and expressions.

Yamini learnt Kuchipudi from her parents and gave her first solo performance at the tender age of three when she cajoled her parents to allow her to perform at Kamani auditorium in New Delhi. Watching a girl of that age perform a full length Tarangam, left the audiences awestruck and the applause she got from the viewers was remarkable.

Since then Yamini has been learning and practicing dance in the true style of Guru Shishya parampara under her gurus. She trained and performed with her parents until when she embarked on a career of her own as a Kuchipudi performer.

Awards and Accolades

Considered to be one of the leading Classical performers of her generation in India, Yamini has performed solo at most of the leading music and dance festivals in India at a young age. Be it the Khajuraho Festival or at the Elephanta caves of Mumbai, Nishagandhi Festival of Kerala or the Doverlane festival of Kolkata, she has made her mark as a performer all over the country.

Internationally Yamini has toured the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, UAE, Russia and East Europe. In Dublin, the Mayor presented her with the golden key to the city after watching her captivating Kuchipudi dance performance.

Yamini is the youngest recipient of the National Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (Young achiever) by Sangeet Natak Akademi of the Government of India, ‘Yuva Ratna Award’ Youth Vocational Excellence award by the District Rotaract Organization, the Young Achievers award by FICCI and the ‘Devadasi National Award.’

As a Kuchipudi performer Yamini has been received with open arms in the lyrical world of art. Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, and Yamini Krishnamurthy, the stalwarts in the field of Music and Dance applauded her for the flawless footwork and rhythmic expressions.



Yamini’s talent is not limited to dance. She is a budding choreographer, her production ‘Harmony’ along with modern dancer Leah Curtis of New York was invited to perform at the prestigious Nishagandhi festival in Kerala.

She has also authored a Research thesis ‘Audience Development for the Performing Arts in India.’

Currently Yamini heads the ‘Natya Tarangini Raja Radha Reddy - Institute of Kuchipudi Dance’ branch in Hyderabad. At the institute she trains students of various age groups to master the art of Kuchipudi Dance. As part of the Institute’s activities she also conducts annual ‘Parampara Series National Festival of Music and Dance’ featuring legendary artists of National and International repute.

In recent times she organized and performed at the ‘Shreyasi International Festival of Dance’ featuring International dance companies like Paul Taylor 2 of USA, Grand Moscow ballet, Jose Porcel of Spain etc.

An inseparable part of her existence and a pillar in her life, Yamini Reddy is completely dedicated to the art of Kuchipudi dance.
